Oscar BACHMANN
August 12, 2004Oscar C. BACHMANN, 86, of Milton, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Kavanagh Hospice House on Grand in West Des Moines of gastric cancer.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 19 in Grace United Methodist Church in Milton, with the Rev. Bryon Wixom and the Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski.
Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials to Grace United Methodist Church, Hospice of Central Iowa or Kavanagh Hospice House on Grand can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 927 Ashworth Road, Apt. 206, West Des Moines 50265.
Mr. BACHMANN was born July 18, 1918, near Pulaski, to Charles and Elise LEIGHTY BACHMANN. He married Gladys PEARSON March 11, 1940, in Burlington.
After farming in the Milton area since 1954, he and his wife moved to West Des Moines earlier this year for health reasons. In addition to farming, he marketed livestock products.
He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Milton Lions Club and Wapello Chiefs Barbershop Chorus.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wendell BACHMANN and wife Emma Lou of West Des Moines and Duane BACHMANN and wife Mary of Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice EVANS of Ukiah, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lily SPRUNGER; and one brother, Herman BACHMANN.
