Melvin Lyod Roberts, 75, of Fairfield died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at his home.

A potluck memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Deborah Roberts, in Fairfield.

The body has been cremated.

The family suggests memorials to Noah's Ark Animal Foundation.

Mr. Roberts was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Canyon, Texas, the son of Melvin Lee and Velma Rosalie Proctor Toddy Roberts. He married Eileen June Sage in 1950; they were later divorced.

He retired after 20 years service in the United States Navy. He was then employed by Douglas Aircraft Corp. in Long Beach, Calif., for 20 years.

Survivors include one sister, Joyce Cicco of Cody, Wyo.; one daughter, Deborah Roberts of Fairfield; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Cybil Puckett and Margie Roberts.
