Barbara Jean SMITH, 85, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at her home.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is helping the family with arrangements.

Barbara Jean RAIL SMITH, 85, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at her home.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Todd Holman officiating. Burial will be at Fell Cemetery in Libertyville.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Victor Rail Scholarship Fund or McElhinny House. Cards and memorials can be mailed to Tim SMITH, 2339 229th St., Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.behnerfh.com.

Mrs. SMITH was born July 17, 1930, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Glen and Goldie ANDERSON RAIL. She married Wayne Eugene SMITH Sept. 7, 1948. He died June 1, 2011.

Mrs. SMITH was office manager at Vision Clinic, now Wolfe Family Vision Center, and bookkeeper for Smith Auto Parts, the family business.

She was a past president of Fairfield Women's Club at the McElhinny House and a member of Fairfield Elks Lodge, Fairfield Women's Club Garden Department and Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary through which she volunteered at The Bargain Box. She also traveled with Libertyville Travelers and First National Bank Heritage Club. She was an avid bridge player.

Mrs. SMITH was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: four children, Sharlene SMITH of Milan, Tennesee (sic), Vicki WISCHMEIER with Dennis of Sperry, Tim SMITH with Sherry of Fairfield and Randy SMITH with Terri of Davenport; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; brother, Victor RAIL; and sister, Darlene CREEK.
