Herman L. TAYLOR

Herman L. TAYLOR, 79, of Keosauqua, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. TAYLOR was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Blontstown, Florida, the son of Edwin and Ella May SCOTT TAYLOR. He married Carol Marie COUNTRYMAN March 25, 1978, at the Lebanon Methodist Church in Lebanon, Iowa. She died July 23, 2012.

He grew up and lived in the Blontstown community until moving to Iowa in 1976.

Mr. TAYLOR was a cabinetmaker and worked at Iowa Malleable Iron Company and Fairfield Aluminum Company before his retirement.

He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, fishing and the Florida State football team.

Survivors include: one daughter, Winter TAYLOR and Craig Dresback of Birmingham, one son, Jon TAYLOR and wife April of Libertyville; five grandchildren; and one brother, Jack SUNDAY of Colona, Illinois.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents, Edwin TAYLOR and Ella May SUNDAY; one brother, Curtis TAYLOR; and three sisters, Myrtice AUSTIN and two infants.

Herman L. TAYLOR

Herman L. TAYLOR, age 79 of 16967 Highway 1, Keosauqua died Wednesday, June 10th at the University Hospitals and Clainics (sic) in Iowa City.

He was born December 7, 1935 at Blountstown, Florida, the son of Edwin & Ella May SCOTT TAYLOR.

He grew up and lived in the Blountstown community until moving to Iowa in 1976.

Herman was a cabinet maker and worked at the Iowa Malleable Iron Company and Fairfield Aluminum Company before his retirement.

He married Carol Marie COUNTRYMAN on March 25, 1978 at the Lebanon Methodist Church at Lebanon, Iowa. She preceded him on July 23, 2012.

Herman loved his family, especially his grandchildren, fishing and the Florida State football team.

Deceased family members include his wife Carol, his parents Edwin TAYLOR and Ella May SUNDAY, 1 brother Curtis TAYLOR and 3 sisters: Myrtice AUSTIN and 2 sisters in infancy.

Surviving are his daughter Winter TAYLOR and Craig Dresback of Birmingham, his son Jon (April) TAYLOR of Libertyville, 5 grandchildren and 1 brother Jack (Carolene) SUNDAY of Colona, Illinois.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with Justin Gazaway officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to the family and left at the funeral home or mailed to: 16967 Highway 1, Keosauqua, Iowa 52565.

Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham is in charge of the arrangements.
