Dorothy I. HORSTMAN

Dorothy I. HORSTMAN, 84, formerly of Bonaparte died at 5:48 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua, where she had resided since January 2013.

In accordance with her wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Goldie Laymon officiating. Burial of cremains will be in White Cemetery north of Bonaparte (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation, with family present, will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Memorials to White Cemetery can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 14, Bonaparte 52620.

Miss HORSTMAN was born Nov. 11, 1930, in rural Bonaparte, the daughter of Phillip and Emma Grace MILLER HORSTMAN.

She graduated from Bonaparte High School, and served many years as a secretary in the Bonaparte and Harmony schools and as secretary of both school boards.

Miss HORSTMAN was a member of Bonaparte United Church and Chapter AB, P.E.O., Bonaparte.

Her hobbies were crocheting, raising flowers and studying genealogy.

Survivors include: one sister-in-law, Alice HORSTMAN of Denmark; two nephews, Gary HORSTMAN of Fort Madison and Kenny HORSTMAN of Bonaparte; three nieces, Susie CAMPBELL of Maricopa, Arizona, Kathy VAN WINKLE of Hillsboro and Lori BANK of Salem.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; and two brothers, Harlan and Harold HORSTMAN.
