Thomas Arthur HALLEY

Thomas Arthur HALLEY, 71, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Waterloo from surgery complications following a debilitating stroke two years ago.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Greenville, Ohio. The body was cremated after the Iowa Donor Network received many of his tissues and his eyes.

Memorials can be made in care of Kathrin HALLEY DOTY, 414 E. Ninth St., Vinton 52349. Stories about Mr. HALLEY are most welcome.

Mr. HALLEY was born April 8, 1944, in Greenville, Ohio, the son of Mary Catherine WESTERMAN and Arthur G. HALLEY.

A National Honor Society graduate of Greenville High School, 1962, and Ohio All State Champion athlete, he attended Earlham College in Indiana on an athletic scholarship and graduated from Indiana State University with high honors in experimental physchology. A master's in science from Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield completed his formal education.

An avid sports fan, music and nature lover, he liked keeping things lively and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include: nine children, Tim HALLEY, Matt HALLEY, Kate DOTY and Maghen BROYLES, all of Iowa, Kama BLANKENSHIP and Bradley BLANKENSHIP, both of Texas, Jeff HARDEMAN and Susan WHITE, both of Tennessee, and Jon HARDEMAN of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five sisters and one brother, most of whom reside in the Greenville, Ohio, area.

He was proceeded (sic - preceded) in death by his parents.
