Carl L. CARR, 73, of Douds, died at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

Carl L. CARR, 73, of Douds, died at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial, with military honors by the American Legion John Hyson Reneker Post 494 of Douds, will be in Leando Cemetery (note: in Van Buren Co., IA). An honor guard of the Iowa Patriot Riders will lead the funeral procession to the cemetery.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Leando Cemetery, John Hyson Reneker Post 494 or Southeastern Iowa Sportsman's Society can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 2475 219th Blvd., Washington 52353.

Mr. CARR was born April 6, 1942, in rural Douds, the son of Stephen P. and Melva PEARSON CARR. He married Carol Ann WILLIAMS Nov. 20, 1966, in Ottumwa. She died Nov. 27, 2008.

Mr. CARR graduated from Douds High School and served as a (sic) artillery instructor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War (sic - Vietnam Conflict). He farmed the family farm south of Douds, worked at the Libertyville school and retired from Barker Ltd.

He was a longtime member, past commander and current financial officer of John Hyson Reneker Post 494, and founding member and past president of Southeastern Iowa Sportsman's Society and a 30-year hunter education instructor for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. He served on the Leando Cemetery board and the Douds Fire Department.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kristina QUINN and husband Steven of Washington, Iowa; one son, Robert CARR and wife Tara of Des Moines; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda ROZENDAAL of Oskaloosa and Phyllis HENDRICKS of Bonaparte; and special friend, Shaaron Golden.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Lawrence CARR; and one grandson.
