Fairfield woman killed in accident
August 02, 2004A 21-year-old Fairfield woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident at 4:15 a.m. Sunday in Van Buren County near Douds.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, Alicia Hoffman of 300 Wilson Blvd. was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound on Highway 16. Upon exiting a curve, the vehicle left the roadway and went onto the shoulder. The vehicle came back onto the roadway, but the driver lost control and the vehicle went into the south ditch striking the ditch embankment at the intersection of the highway and Jewell Avenue. Hoffman was ejected from the vehicle.
Hoffman was taken by ambulance to Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, where she was pronounced dead.
A celebration of life for Hoffman will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home. Burial of remains will be at a later date in Baker, Nev.
Hoffman was the daughter of Lynne Hoffman of Fairfield and the late Russell Lee Hoffman. She lived in Fairfield since 1995 and graduated from Fairfield High School in 2001.

The accident was investigated by the Iowa Highway Patrol, with assistance by Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, Van Buren County Ambulance and Douds First Responders.
The vehicle, which was totaled, was towed to Osborne Oil Co.-Standard Products in Keosauqua.
