Adeline A. DRISH

Adeline A. DRISH, 94, of Brighton died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Kahl Home for the Aged in Davenport (note: in Scott Co., IA).

The funeral and Mass of Christian Burial were held this morning at Kahl Home. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Memorials can be made to the Kahl Home for the Aged, St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain and Polishville Association.

Mrs. DRISH was born Nov. 1, 1909, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Paul and Rosie P. KREGOSKI PECK. She married Charles A. DRISH June 14, 1934, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Polishville. He died Aug. 6, 1988.

She received a bachelor of arts degree from Parsons College and completed graduate studies at the University of Iowa. She taught third and fourth grades in Brighton and retired in 1975 as special education teacher in Fairfield Community School District schools.

She was a member of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, CCD coordinator and teacher for St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, as well as parish council member and steering committee member and secretary.

Mrs. DRISH was president of Fairfield Community Education Association and delegate to the National Education Association conventions in New York and Chicago. A member of Center for Active Seniors, Delta Kappa Gamma, Iowa State Education Association, Council for Exceptional Children, she served as board member of the Washington County Chapter of American Red Cross and chairman of the Brighton Red Cross chapter. She served for two years as president of Washington Council Federated Womens Club and was a past officer of the Brighton Federated Womens Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary KIEFER and husband Carl of Davenport; one son, Ted DRISH of Greenfield; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise FORBES of Fairfield and Laurine ARMATTA of Rock Island, Ill.; and one brother, William PECK of East Pleasant Plain.
