Alvin Russell TRACHSEL, 89, of rural Milton, died at 3:20 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at home.
The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Good Samaritan Society Hospice in Ottumwa or Sunnyside Cemetery can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 13527 252nd St., Milton 52570.
Mr. TRACHSEL was born April 4, 1926, near Pulaski, the son of Paul and Elsie BOLLMAN TRACHSEL. He married Ruth Nadine FINDLEY Aug. 8, 1946, in Ottumwa.
Mr. TRACHSEL graduated from Milton High School in 1943.
He spent his life farming the home farm northeast of Milton.
Mr. TRACHSEL was an active bowler and was a member of the Bloomfield Bowling Hall of Fame. He also played town team fast-pitch softball.
Survivors include: his wife; one daughter, Rebecca McCAW and husband Clayle of Muscatine; four sons, Mike TRACHSEL of Cantril, Ben TRACHSEL and wife Amy of Lisbon, Tim TRACHSEL and wife Debbie of Fairfield Heights, Illinois, and Pat TRACHSEL and wife Faith of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Judy SCHMIDT of Troy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
