Sarah Louise ROGERS, 86, of Eldon, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
As were her wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eldon Christian Church. Friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in the basement of the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in her honor can be directed to Eldon Christian Church or the KD Center. Friends can sign the online guestbook at www.kremerfh.com.
Mrs. ROGERS was born Oct. 20, 1928, on a farm near Albia, the daughter of Wilsey and Helen BAIRD JONES. She married Chris CHRISTENSEN. They later divorced. She married Allen ROGERS in Kirksville, Missouri. He died in 2013.
The JONES family lived and farmed on "the old Knight place" near Eldon. Mrs. ROGERS attended school in Eldon and graduated with the Class of 1946. She went to cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. She began cutting hair herself, as well as working for Vera Swanson.
After marrying Allen ROGERS, she became a stay-at-home mom and housewife to direct her fulll attention to her three children.
Mrs. ROGERS was an avid bird-watcher, especially Cardinals. She was an artist who often painted and drew old barns and farm scenery. She had a sense of humor and a way of bringing out the brighter things in life. She was a firm believer in lifting people up.
Survivors include: two sons, Dan CHRISTENSEN and wife Cyndi of Brighton and Timmy ROGERS of Douds; one daughter, Alana ROGERS of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Allen ROGERS, she was preceded in death by: her parents; and her seven siblings.
