Eryl C. Van Dyke
July 19, 2004Eryl Cloyce Van Dyke, 91, formerly of Vining and Richland, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown following a long illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Richland with military rites.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 Tuesday at the cemetery, prior to the service.

Mr. Van Dyke was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Richland, the son of George Lacey and Eva Bales Van Dyke. He married Edith L. Gingles April 16, 1938, in Ottumwa. She later died.
He served in Civilian Conservation Corps and Iowa Army National Guard. During World War II, he served in the United States Army in the European theater with the 81st Field Hospital unit, earning two Bronze Stars.
He was a past member of VFW and American Legion.
He retired from employment by the Milwaukee Railroad.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Van Dyke and wife Ila of Vining and George Van Dyke and wife Cheryl of Nichols; one daughter, Kathryn Klaus and husband David of Burlington; one stepdaughter, Shirley Anderson Reynolds of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Casper, R. Levi, G. Eugene and twin Beryl; three sisters, Marjorie Nichols Russell, Imogene Swanson and Genevieve Snowbarger; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
