JoAnn THYS

JoAnn THYS, 82, of Fairfield, died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Per Mrs. THYS's request, the body has been cremated. No visitation or funeral is planned. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Memorials can be made to Noah's Ark. Cards and memorials can be sent to Troy THYS, 3202 W. Madison Ave., Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be left to the family at www.behnerfh.com.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family.

Mrs. THYS was born March 29, 1932, the daughter of Clarence and Esther STEPHENSON BURNETT. She married Lawrence THYS Oct. 5, 1952. He died Dec. 30, 1996.

Mrs. THYS was a lifetime resident of Fairfield.

She was owner/operator of Mi-T-Mart for 20 years before retiring in 2005.

She enjoyed all sports, was a Hawkeye fan and liked to watch all kinds of racing.

Survivors include: one son, Troy THYS; and one granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; and two sisters, wilma ANDERSON and Alberta JOHNSON.
