Keith Robert BARNETT

Keith Robert BARNETT, 75, of Dixon, died Monday, March 9, 2015, at his home. He started his career in the space industry in California. He also worked for Quaker Oats Company, and spent 15 years as a manufacturing engineer for the E. Edelmann Company, Dixon, retiring in 1995.

Keith was born May 24, 1939, in Fairfield, IA, the son of Keith and Mildred (PARSONS) BARNETT. He married Patricia McSHANE on January 19, 1957, in Fairfield, IA. Although they later divorced, they remained friends throughout the years. He married Mary HERSHBERGER on May 17, 1997, in Dixon. Keith was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dixon.

He is survived by his wife, Mary BARNETT of Dixon; one son, Robert Dean (Marcie) BARNETT of Hinckley; three daughters, Tracy CREASON of Apple Valley, CA, Kathleen (Jon) SPELLMAN of Dixon, Susan (Michael) CULLEN of Chana; three stepsons, Steven SMITH of St. John's, MO, James Scott SMITH of Pecatonica, Timothy (Tami) SMITH of Aurora; one stepdaughter, Susan (Marvin) REID of Pecatonica; one sister, Patricia MORRISON of Texas; one brother-in-law, David (Barbara) HERSHBERGER of Mendota; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Willa NELSON.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, followed by an 8:00 p.m., rosary service. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2015, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Antoni Kretowicz, pastor, officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon, following the Mass.

Memorials have been established to Dixon Food Pantry and St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dixon.
