Marian T. FRITZ REDLINGER

Marian T. FRITZ REDLINGER, 93, of Solon, and formerly of Harper, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Solon Care Center, where she had been a resident since 2010.

A funeral Mass is set for 10:30 a.m. saturday at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keokta, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where a wake service is set for 4 p.m.

A general memorial fund has been established. Tributes can be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Mrs. REDLINGER was born Nov. 13, 1921, in East Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Michael and Gertrude ARNDT FRITZ. She married John REDLINGER Oct. 10, 1945, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at East Pleasant Plain. He died July 20, 2013.

She graduated from Brighton High School, attended Ottumwa College of Teaching and was given a special war emergency certificate to teach on Dec. 21, 1944. She taught in country schools in the Germanville and Polishville areas during World War II.

She and her husband lived on a farm near Harper where she was a full-time homemaker. She baked, canned her homegrown vegetables and sewed for her family. Her favorite holiday was the Christmas season, when she made her own decorations and gave them to her family.

Survivors include: six children, Gary REDLINGER and wife Donna of Solon, Donna SCHEETZ and husband Gary of Oxford, Janet SCHROCK of Solon, Mary Ellen BARRY and husband Bill of Fairfax, Dennis REDLINGER and wife Joni of Keota, and Dean REDLINGER and wife Jeanene of Keota; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Sylvester FRITZ of Brighton and Cletus FRITZ of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Alice REDLINGER and Loretta SCHNEIDER; and four brothers, John, Walter, Robert and Richard FRITZ in infancy; and one great-grandson.
