Merle E. MILLER Sr., 91 of Chandler, Arizona, and formerly of Fairfield, died today, Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Guiding Angels Nursing Home in Gilbert, Arizona.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Merle Eugene MILLER

Merle Eugene MILLER, 91, of Chandler, Arizona, and formerly of Fairfield died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, in Gilbert, Arizona.

The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Dennis Miller officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. MILLER was born June 27, 1923, in Abingdon, the son of Harley J. and Eunice Cora SMITH MILLER. He married Marguarite J. NOVAY.

Mr. MILLER graduated from Fairfield High School in 1941.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in the Iowa National guard as shop chief in the 224th Engineer Battalion in Fairfield until retiring in 1978 after more than 34 years of service.

Mr. MILLER served on the Fairifeld Police Reserve. He also served as a Fairfield city councilman.

He and his wife moved to Arizona in 1978.

Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Nancy and Mary; one son, Merle MILLER Jr. of Chandler, Arizona; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and brother Harold MILLER.
