MRS. LORETTA STEELE DIES JAN. 21

Loretta SMITH, oldest child of George and Ella SMITH, was born March 9, 1872 in Leando and died Jan. 21, 1951 at the Curtis nursing home in Ottumwa at the age of 78 years.

Most of her life was lived in the vicinity in which she was born.

She married James A. STEELE on March 27, 1888. four children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy.

She is survived by two children, Mrs. Ruth RAMSEY, Birmingham, and Rex STEELE, Verdi, N.M., eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1937, two brothers, and two sisters.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Jan. 23 at the Pedrick funeral home at Douds in charge of Rev. E.K. Parrott, Packwood.
