M. Maxine VERNON

M. Maxine VERNON, age 92, of Fairfield died Saturday February 7, 2015 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Maxine was born October 15, 1922 in Bowen, Illinois to Glen and Mabel STAMBACH VEACH.

She graduated from Bowen High School. She was united in marriage to Robert James VERNON on October 31, 1950 in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2003. They lived in the Fairfield community for over fifty five years. Maxine worked at the Kiger Café, Parsons College and O'Gradys Cleaners.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother: Wayne; one infant son: Paul; one son-in-law, Glen SHELANGOSKI.

Surviving family members include her daughter: Shelley SHELANGOSKI of Fairfield; 2 grandchildren: Mike and Kim SHELANGOSKI of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Lora and Troy TABBERT of Manly, Iowa; 4 great grandchildren: Abigail and Nicholas SHELANGOSKI, Kade and Talan TABBERT.

A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday February 10, 2015 at Garrett Cemetery near Delta, Iowa (note: in Keokuk Co., IA).

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the VFW Avenue of Flags.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
