Charles E. Watson, 72 died Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at the Altoona United Methodist Church of which he was a member. Interment will follow at the Altoona Cemetery.

Charles was born July 7th in Fairfield, Iowa to Carlos and Helen Watson. He attended Pleasant Plain Consolidation School and A.I.B. He married Darlene Hoskins on January 16, 1953. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the 148th Graves Registration Unit and later as an Honor Guard.

Employment included the former Blue Cross-Blue Shield and National Travelers. Later he worked in marketing with Mohawk Data Sciences and Storage Technology Corp. in the emerging field of Computer Technology.

Chuck enjoyed golfing during his retirement years and was a member of the Lions Club.

He is survived by wife, Darlene of 1546 Cardiff Ct. in Altoona, Iowa 50009 and children -- Debra Watson (Bill Schwerin) of Mt. Prospect, IL; Darrell Watson of Altoona, IA; Diane Fincher (David) of Cleveland, TN and Doug Watson (Mary) of Altoona, IA. Grandchildren include 2 granddaughters -- Raven (Rajiv) Nehra and Erika Watson, 4 grandsons -- Jesse Masters, Ryan Fincher, Randy Watson and Jacob Watson. Great Grandchildren include -- Aspen, Chaten and Nilen Nehra. His 2 brothers -- Keith of Richland, IA and Gordon of Washington, IA.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank or Altoona United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Monday evening 6-8 at the Altoona United Methodist Church.
