Evelyn B. ZUMDOME

Evelyn B. ZUMDOME, 88, of Fort Madison, died at 5:38 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at The Kensington in Fort Madison.

A funeral Mass is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish in Fort Madison, with the Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery (note: in Lee Co., IA).

Visitation will be Sunday at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m., and the family will meet with friends from 2-4 p.m. A wake will be at 4 p.m.

A memorial has been established for Holy Family Parish or Holy Trinity School Art Department. Online condolences can be left at www.kinglynk.com .

Mrs. ZUMDOME was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Glasgow, the daughter of Parvin and Helen THOMSON (sic - Parvin & Helen THOMSON HOWELL). She married Leo George ZUMDOME Feb. 15, 1947. He died June 29, 2003.

Mrs. ZUMDOME was a 1944 graduate of Fairfield High School.

She worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison for 20 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church Holy Family Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society, CLA and several other clubs.

Her pastimes included playing cards, dancing, shopping and going on bus trips. She loved spending time with friends and family, especially all the family gatherings.

Survivors include: two sons, Larry ZUMDOME and wife Rhonda of Fort Madison and Ron "Zoomer" ZUMDOME and wife Barbara, also of Fort Madison; two daughters, Diane FOSTER and husband Michael of New Bern, North Carolina, and Becky RUNG and husband Steve of Fort Madison; and five grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister, Vernie METZ; and two brothers, George and Thomas HOWELL.

Note: Evelyn's obituary wasn't clear with regard to her maiden name due to the incomplete listing of her parents. Also, the "Burlington Hawkeye had an obituary for her which noted that in adition to her five grandchildren, there are six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and two sisters, Fern CRAFTON of Fairfield and Margaret NEWELL of Des Moines.
