Sharon K. NORTON

Sharon K. NORTON, 71, of rural Milton, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Cantril Christian Church in Cantril, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 25775 Chestnut Ave., Milton 52570.

Mrs. NORTON was born Feb. 7, 1943, in rural Pulaski, the daughter of Peter and Bertha BLUM JESSEN. She married Wayne NORTON Dec. 17, 1961, in Ottumwa.

Mrs. NORTON graduated from Davis County High School in Blooomfield.

She was a farm homemaker. She had also worked at King Insurance in Milton, Casey's General Store in Bloomfield and Pioneer Hi-Bred International in Hedrick.

Mrs. NORTON was an active member of Cantril Christian Church and Gideons International.

Survivors include: her husband; one son, Mark NORTON and wife Dee of Marshalltown; one daughter, Darla HARGIS and husband Alan of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and five sisters, Martha BLASI of Clarinda, Elsie WAGLER of Cody, Wyoming, Evelyn WELLS of Valle De Oro, Texas, Gwendlyn FOSTER BATES of Huntsville, Texas, and Shirley SCHMIDT of Mundelein, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; and three brothers, Richard, Harold and Ronald JESSEN.
