Twila LANE

Twila LANE, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

A funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Interment will be at the Spencer Cemetery near Stockport (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral, at the memorial chapel.

Mrs. LANE was born July 28, 1924, near Hillsboro, the daughter of Phin R. and Martha RANSON DAVIDSON. She married Stan LANE June 11, 1941, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died Nov. 2, 1986.

When she was young, in 1930, Mrs. LANE's family moved to the Stockport community. She graduated from Stockport High School in 1941.

Mr. and Mrs. LANE spent their entire married life on a farm near Stockport where she was a homemaker, helped with the farming operation and worked outside the home. She worked at the Silas Mason Ordnance Plant until the end of World War II, then at the Johnson Real Estate Office in Stockport, and later for 25 years as a casher for Hank & Brooks Cash Store.

After leaving the farm, she resided in Mt. Pleasant since 1989.

Mrs. LANE's favorite hobbies included photography, sewing, word puzzles and flowers. She especially enjoyed her irises, which won many ribbons at the Women's Club Iris Show. She loved music, especially big band, gospel and country western, and she enjoyed ballroom dancing. She liked to cook and was an avid baker. She was passionate about her grandchildren and spent many hours caring for and spending time with them.

Mrs. LANE was a lifetime member of Stockport United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

She was a 50-year member of Royal Neighbors of America, an auxiliary member of Ladies of the Moose, and a member of TOPS Chapter No. 12 in Mt. Pleasant.

Survivors include: two sons, Steven LANE and wife Vicki of Birmingham and Gary LANE and wife Rosemary of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Joe DAVIDSON of Salt Lake City, Utah; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents.
