Neil Charles DOYLE, 84, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Per Mr. DOYLE's wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.

Mr. DOYLE was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Hibbing, Minnesota, the son of Walter and Vera DOYLE. He married Barbara Ann GAALAAS June 29, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
The DOYLEs moved to Fairfield in 1962 when he was employed by Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company. In 1969, he joined Gamrath and Thoma Insurance Agency. He later became an owner, and the agency was renamed Gamrath-Doyle and Associates. He retired in 1993.
Mr. DOYLE was very active in the Fairfield community. He was a past president of the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce and received the Citizen of the Year award in 1994. He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in helping with the maintenance of the church building.
He was a founding member of The Lord's Cupboard and served on the board of directors for many years. His devotion to the cupboard was demonstrated by the countless hours he spent there, including the "bread runs" to Hy-Vee that he made sure were covered when he wasn't available.
Mr. DOYLE also was an active member of the Fairfield Lions Club and a recipient of the Warren Coleman Honorary Award as well as a Warren Jones Fellow.
Mr. DOYLE was instrumental in helping Maharishi International University, now Maharishi University of Management, move to Fairfield and was often a liaison in the community and college relations.
He also served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.
His love of woodworking was his retirement "job," and he created many pieces of furniture for family and friends. He also created flag boxes that he gave to families of veterans and wooden crosses that he gave to everyone in an expression of his Christian faith.
Survivors include: his wife; his children, Deborah SCHMIDT and husband Michael of Glenwood, Patrick DOYLE and wife Deb of Fairfield, Kevin DOYLE and wife Deb MAPES of Watertown, Massachusetts, Dennis DOYLE and wife Christine of Pella and Peggy WATERS and husband Scott of Iowa City; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mavis HERENDEEN of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Dorothy MOORE of Akron, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and his brother Larry DOYLE.

Neil Charles DOYLE, 84, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Joseph Phipps officiating. Military rites will follow the service.
