Wayne O. WOODSON

Wayne O. WOODSON 89, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Friday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery (note: in Henry Co., IA).

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. WOODSON was born April 2, 1925, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Walter A. and Cora O. COLBERT WOODSON.

He had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Sweet Heart Bakery of Burlington, and Blue Bird Midwest of Mt. Pleasant and later at the Mental Health Institute of Mt. Pleasant.

He enjoyed bowling, watching football, basketball, playing bingo, going fishing, watching Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right and painting.

Survivors include: his four children, Pauline THORNTON, Dwayne WOODSON and spouse Toni SEMPF, Tina SAMMONS and spouse Mike LEYDA, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Jacky WOODSON and spouse Angie of Brighton; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Wayne "Woody" WOODSON; one grandson; and two brothers, Laverne WOODSON and Floyd WOODSON.
