Ralph Edward Carlson
June 28, 2004Ralph Edward Carlson, 82, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at his home.
The funeral was held today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Henry County Conservation Board or Henry County Health Center Cardiac Rehab Unit.
Mr. Carlson was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Sperry, the son of Clifford D. and Esther Swanson Carlson. He married Ethel Marie Starman Nov. 23, 1944, in Burlington.
He was employed by J.I. Case for 14 years, Bluebird Midwest for five years and the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 12 years. He delivered the Mount Pleasant Shopper for 12 years.
He was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He enjoyed being outdoors and hunting mushrooms and arrowheads.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Sammy Carlson and wife Margaret of Mount Pleasant; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Herman.
