Elsie Marie Neece, 76, of Richland died at 5:55 P.M. Wednesday afternoon at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday June 26, 2004 at Woolson Friends Church south of Richland with Rev. Ned Van Nostrand and Rev. Carl Ratcliff officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at Gould Funeral Home in Richland. Memorials to Woolson Friends Church may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family in care of Carol Meyers 406 110th St. Brighton, IA 52540.

Elsie Marie Neece was born September 21, 1927 in Salina, IA to Charles H. and Ella Anna (Trail) Rubey. She married Thomas Leroy Neece in Fairfield April 18, 1948. He died March 31, 1991. Mrs. Neece grew up in the Salina area and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1944. She also attended AIB (The American Institute of Business) in Davenport. She had been employed by Universal Producing Co. in Fairfield and by Jefferson County Hospital for 27 years where she worked as a nursing assistant, ward clerk, physical therapy assistant and Housekeeping Department head. Mrs. Neece retired in 1992. She was a member of Blue Point Club, Cloverleaf Club, Missionary Meeting and Woolson Friends Church where she held many jobs including: Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher, Kitchen Committee, Pastoral Committee and Monthly Meeting Recording Clerk.

Mrs. Neece is survived by three daughters: Martha Snyder and her husband Douglas of Logan, IA, Mary Neece of Milan, MO and Carol Meyers and her husband Jeff of Pleasant Plain, two sons: Tom Neece and his wife Sharman of Sigourney and Charles Neece and his wife Karen of Redwood Falls, MN, nine grandchildren: Amy and Curt Kahler, Steven and Suni Snyder, Susan and Brent Wolf, Scott and Rachel Snyder, Aaron Snyder, Lucas Neece, Jacob Neece, Jenny Meyers and Christopher Meyers, six great grandchildren: Dakota Kahler, Noah Kahler, Dominic Snyder, Ashley Snyder, Spencer Wolf and Cole Snyder, three sisters: Eloise Norton of Oskaloosa, Laura May Leu of Washington and Emma Lillian Kurtz of South English. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and three brothers.
