Thelma RIDINGER

Thelma RIDINGER, 99, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

The funeral is planned for 1 a.m. Tuesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation began this afternoon at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, and the family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. today.

Mrs. RIDINGER was born May 12, 1915, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Garfield and Hilma SODERGREN MESSER. She married Leonard RIDINGER July 1, 1966, in Fairfield. He died in November 1997.

She spent her formative years in Jefferson County and graduated from Lockridge High School in 1933.

She and her husband moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1975.

Mrs. RIDINGER worked for Universal Producing Company in Fairfield for six years and Emerson Electric for five years. Later, she was employed by Metromail. For nine years prior to retiring in 1981, she worked as an inspector for Motorola.

Mrs. RIDINGER loved spending time with her family, embroidering, quilting, growing flowers, reading and solving crossword puzzles. She was known for her beautiful pressing and ironing.

She was of the Lutheran Faith.

Survivors include: one son, Robert HENDRICKS and wife Judy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Phyllis MOORE of Klamth, Oregon (sic - Klamath County, or Klamath Falls, Oregon); one stepson, Larry RIDINGER and wife Sulvia of Mt. Pleasant; one stepdaughter-in-law, Judy RIDINGER of Mt. Pleasant; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: two sons, Roxie HENDRICKS and Richard HENDRICKS; two stepsons, Emmet RIDINGER and John RIDINGER; two sisters, Violet TALLMAN and Blanche NELSON; five brothers, Clifford, Paul, Wayne, Russell and Howard MESSER; one son-in-law, Robert MOORE; and one stepgrandson.
