Byron OVERSTREET

Byron OVERSTREET, 69, of Viola, Illinois, and formerly of Cantril, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at Seminary Manor Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

The body has been cremated. Arrangements for a memorial services (sic) are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Byron Lee OVERSTREET

Byron Lee OVERSTREET, 69, of Viola, Illinois, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois.

In accordance with his wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron. Burial of cremains will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Memorials to Maple Grove Cemetery can be left at the funeral home or mailed to his wife at PO Box 423, Viola, IL 61486.

Mr. OVERSTREET was born Feb. 3, 1945, in Burlington, the son of C. LaVerne "Pete" OVERSTREET and Francis RANKIN OVERSTREET. He married Katherine HORN in 1965. He married Doris CROWE in 2007 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.

Mr. OVERSTREET grew up on the family farm near Cantril, graduated from Fox Valley High School in 1963 and attended Northeast Missouri State in Kirksville, Missouri.

He worked at Armstrong Rubber Company and Stanbrough Realty Company in Des Moines. Later, he worked in commercial truck tire sales for various companies including Goodyear.

A few years after marrying Doris CROWE, they made their home in Viola, Illinois.

Byron had many good memories of growing up in Van Buren County, especially playing basketball and baseball in high school. His love of sports continued into his adult life as he liked to golf and watch sports, including professional baseball, college basketball and football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He had a soft spot for his pets. Most recently his two Maltese dogs were his constant companions.

Survivors include his wife Doris of Viola, Illinois; three daughters, Gina OVERSTREET of Des Moines, Cara OVERSTREET of Des Moines and Erica KAUFMAN and husband Bruce of Sanger, Texas; one brother, Rex OVERSTREETof (sic) Stockport; one sister, Dolores HANNAM of Newport Beach, California; and three step-sons, Kevin CROWE Tony CROWE, and Tom HENNENFENT.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Burton, Eugene "Potter" and Ronald OVERSTREET; and one sister, Donna AUGSPURGER.
