Richard Lee 'Butch' STORTZ

Richard Lee "Butch" STORTZ, 70, of Birmingham, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 18, 2014, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield of pancreatic cancer.

Cremation has been accorded as per Mr. STORTZ's wishes, and no funeral service is planned. Interment of ashes will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham (note: in Van Buren Co, IA).

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham, with the family present from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences can be left at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com

Mr. STORTZ was born Feb. 23, 1944, in Fairfield, Ithe (sic) son of Richard and Betty Rae SMITH STORTZ. He married Bonnie HEINOLD in 1963, and they divorced. He married Alice Ellen McENTIRE KEISER Aug. 28, 1975.

He lived in Texas, Illinois, Fairfield and California. He graduated from Rantoul, Illinois, High School in 1962. He moved back to Fairfield in 1962.

Mr. STORTZ was manager of Kelly Supply, formerly City Plumbing Supply, in Fairfield.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and attended the Birmingham Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: his wife Alice; two sons James Lee KEISER and wife Alisa of Vista, California, and Cary Lee STORTZ and wife Jamie of Peoria, Illinois; four grandchildren; and one sister, Sue CASTEEL of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
