June 04, 2004Denby "Shine" Risenhoover, 82, of Ottumwa and formerly of the Hedrick area died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be at McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center. A military service will be conducted by Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Post 83 of the American Legion of Hedrick.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hospice or Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mr. Risenhoover was born May 22, 1922, in Willow, Okla., the son of Wiley Tisdal and Maudie Delon Shadwick Risenhoover. He married Doris Marie Davis Nov. 1, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A resident of Wapello County most of his life, he farmed near Highland Center. He retired in 1984 and moved to Ottumwa in 1985.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in the European Theater of Operations.
Mr. Risenhoover was a 57-year member of Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Post 83 of the American Legion, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 1192 in Fairfield and Walton Golf Club in Fairfield. He was a past master of Garfield Lodge 485 in Hedrick and a past member of Order of Eastern Star.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Cynthia Ann Bayliss and husband Rich of Hedrick; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; one brother, Geral Risenhoover of Fort Worth, Texas; and one sister, Belle Doster, also of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Tommy Ray Risenhoover; and one brother, Lonnie "Snaz" Risenhoover.
