Carolyn STARK

Carolyn Jean STARK, 73, of Altoona and formerly of Batavia, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

The funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday, with the family present from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the family.

Ms. STARK was born Feb. 23, 1941, the daughter of Everett W. and Mary Katherine MILLER ADAMS.

A 1959 graduate of Cardinal High School, she was a licensed beautician. She worked at Spurgeons Beauty Salon in Fairfield before operating salons in her homes.

Ms. STARK retired and lived in Arizona for 10 years before moving to Altoona in 2005.

Survivors include: her stepfather, Robert MILLER; two brothers, Joe MILLER and David MILLER; and one sister, Christine SNELLING.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two stepsisters, Camille MILLER and Jackie MILLER CRESTA; and one brother, Wendell KELLY.
