Helen Vivian CARTER, 78, formerly of 704 N. Main, died at 12:32 a.m. Sunday at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Church of the Brethren near Libertyville with the Rev. George Koch officiating. Burial will be in Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to Parview Home in Wayland and Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. CARTER was born June 2, 1908 in Batavia, the daughter of William and Alice RODABAUGH HUNT. She graduated from Batavia High School in 1927, attended Parsons College and received a bachelor of arts degree from Iowa Weslyan College. She married Lloyd W. CARTER in 1931 in Batavia. She taught school for 38 years in Jefferson County, Douds-Leando, Wayland and Avoca. She retired in 1974 and moved to Fairfield, where she lived until moving in 1986 to Parkview Home, Wayland. She was a member of Church of the Brethren and a life member of the Iowa Teachers Association.
Suviving are a son, Leonard A. Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Ivo HUNT, Batavia; Dr. Van HUNT, Mason City; a sister, Elevna McINTIRE, Fairfield. Two brothers preceded her in death.
