Dr. SINGLEY, Veteran Local Dentist, Dies

Dr. Albert H. SINGLEY, 68, veteran Fairfield dentist, died Saturday at 5:20 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient since Jan. 14. He had been in failing health for some time.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Burial will be Evergreen Cemetery. Masonic rites will be in charge of Clinton Lodge No. 15 AF&AM.

Dr. SINGLEY was born Dec. 27, 1905 at Moulton, the son of George and Eva BARNES SINGLEY. He was reared and educated at Moulton.

Following graduation from the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa, he served on year in oral surgery at a hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also practiced one year at Victor, Iowa, before coming to Fairfield Feb. 19, 1930.

Dr. SINGLEY was married to Ruth ZEIGLER Aug. 5, 1933. Surviving are his widow and two daughters: Mrs. Charles PINKERTON, Hialeah, Fla., and Mrs. John MARTIN, Morris, Ill.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, one brother and three sisters: William C. SINGLEY, Moulton; Mrs. Kenneth LEWIS, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Edward POWERS, Centerville; and Mrs. Marvin RICHARDSON, Carlisle.

Dr. SINGLEY practiced dentistry in Fairfield until November, 1971. He was a life member of the Iowa Dental Association. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Kaaba Temple Shrine and Commandery Council and Chapter. He was also past president of the Fairfield Lions Club and a life member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge.

Dr. SINGLEY headed a committee which was successful in establishing a city water fluoridation program in 1952. Fairfield was one of 12 cities to take part in the test program set up by the state.

Until his health failed, Dr. SINGLEY was an active farm operator, raising both cattle and hogs. He was a regional winner in national swine competition in 1959.
