Leo I. DeSPAIN, 89, Fairfield Hotel, died at 12:10 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home.

Graveside rites for DeSPAIN

Graveside rites for Leo Isaac DeSPAIN, 89, of the Fairfield Hotel, who died Friday morning at Jefferson County Hospital, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Friends may call at their convenience beginning Sunday at Behner Funeral Home.

DeSPAIN was born Dec. 28, 1897, in Burlington, the son of Newton and Emma PETERSON DeSPAIN. He married Etta WILLIAMS in December 1932 in Lancaster, Mo. She died November 16, 1955.

He has been a machinist for C.B.&Q. Railroad for 43 years and had lived in Fairfield since 1977. He previously had lived in Ottumwa.

DeSPAIN is survived by one sister, Francis SHEEHAN, California; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
