Ned H. GASTON, 77, of rural Keosauqua died at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at home.
A memorial service is set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Center Chapel Church, with the Rev. Douglas Harding and Lee McIntosh officiating. In accordance with his wishes, the body has been cremated. Burial of cremains will be in Center Chapel Cemetery in Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Monday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
Memorials to Center Chapel Cemetery can be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 26315 Osage Ave., Keosauqua 52565.
Mr. GASTON was born Feb. 8, 1937, on the family farm south of Keosauqua, the son of Keith and Ruth WELLS GASTON. He married Lorene UMPHREY April 24, 1957, at Center Chapel Church.
Mr. GASTON grew up on the family farm, graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1955 and went to trade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to become a telegrapher.
Following trade school, he worked on the Rock Island Railroad as a telegrapher and at River Lumber and Grain in Prophetstown, Illinois.
Mr. GASTON moved back to the family farm in 1966, where he pursued his love of farming. He sold Pioneer Seed Corn for 24 years. He was a member of the Van Buren school board, one of the first board members for the Riverview Country Club, a Vernon Township Trustee, treasurer for Center Chapel Cemetery and a lifelong member of Center Chapel Church.
Mr. GASTON enjoyed motorcycles, farming, NASCAR, football and several other sports, but most of all he enjoyed his family.
Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Steve GASTON and wife Brenda of Keosauqua and Kerry GASTON and wife Laura of Keosauqua; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann GASTON of Lemont, Illinois.

The obituary for Ned H. GASTON printed in the Friday edition of The Fairfield Ledger should have stated he was born Feb. 28, 1937.
The obituary also should have included that in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Susan ATWOOD.
