Rites Today For JACOBS
Roy W. ACOBS, 79, retired carpenter, died at 2:05 P.M. Saturday at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient for five days. His residence is at 404 E. Adams but he had been a resident at the Parkview Care Center for the past three years before going to the hospital.
Services were held at 10:30 A.M. today, Tuesday, at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lenwood Monte Officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Roy W. JACOBS was born Feb. 22, 1897, in the New Sweden Community in Jefferson County, the son of Albert and Clara ANDERSON JACOBS. He was reared and educated in Jefferson County.
His marriage to Mildred NELSON took place Feb. 17, 1922, in the New Sweden church west of Four Corners. She preceded him in death Dec. 24, 1966 (sic - Dec. 14, 1965).
He was married to Mrs. Mae WARD April 8, 1968, in Fairfield, who survives. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ronald VORHIES, Milan, Ill.; Mrs. Theo BAILEY, Fairfield; and Mrs. William HARRISON, Fairfield; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one stepson, James WARD, Addison, Ill.; four step-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one brother, Harry JACOBS, Burlington. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Admin. note: Buried with first wife Mildred, in Lot 4th.074.
