Dorothy L. ZICKEFOOSE

Dorothy L. ZICKEFOOSE, 89, of Washington, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Halcyon House in Washington.

A celebration of life for ZICKEFOOSE will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Rick Zickefoose officiating.

Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA). Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 15 from noon until 8 p.m. with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County and Lending Hands Adult Day Care Center.

Dorothy Lucille (WEIDNER) ZICKEFOOSE was born March 1, 1925 in Washington County, the daughter of Frank and Goldie (NORTON) WEIDNER. She graduated from Brighton High School.

On Aug. 25, 1946 she married William ZICKEFOOSE in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dorothy worked in the Hy-Vee bakery for many years.

She enjoyed red birds, cooking, embroidery, gardening and canning, family get togethers and traveling.

Survivors include three children: Judi (Milt) WILDEBUER of Solon, Bonnie (Ron) BOSHART of Washington, Iowa, Mark ZICKEFOOSE of Washington, Iowa, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Preceding Dorothy in death was her husband in 1999 and two brothers, Kenny and Clifford WEIDNER.
