Gus Le Roy "Bing" ANDERS, age 71 of rural Birmingham died at his home on Monday, August 11, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with Pastor Steven Rasmussen officiating. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Navy will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Friends may call beginning at noon Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Birmingham Fire Department. Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Online condolences may be sent to: www.raymondfuneralhomes.com .
ANDERS was born March 27, 1943 in Fairfield. He was raised by his grandparent Joseph A. and Sylvia P. LOVING KELLER.
He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam for two tours of duty on the "Ranger" and the "Enterprise." He grew up in Fairfield and lived all of his adult life in the Birmingham community.
Gus was an over the road trucker and farmer. He is married to Beverly WILSON FARRIS. Surviving are his wife Beverly, 1 daughter Christina ANDERS of Washington, Iowa, and his sister Carol ATKINS in Indiana.
