Dolorita Mary Shelman
May 12, 2004Dolorita Mary Shelman, 83, of Hillsboro died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton, with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. No family visitation is planned,
Memorials may be directed to Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro Fire and Rescue Unit or the furnace and air-conditioning fund of St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton.
Mrs. Shelman was born Dec. 18, 1920, in West Point, the daughter of Herman H. and Catherine Nacke Kuhljuergen. She married William L. Pollpeter April 17, 1943. He was killed in action during World War II on April 25, 1945. She married Verl Dean Shelman Dec. 8, 1951, in West Point. Shelman died Jan. 17, 1999.
Mrs. Shelman was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
She also was a memebr of the American Legion Auxiliary John Richard Hoaglin Post 610 of Hillsboro.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Shelman and wife Joyce of Hillsboro; one daughter, Janne Hunsaker and husband Joe of Hillsboro; two grandsons; and two sisters, Tillie Cooper of Fort Madison and Thelma Thornton of Lexington, Ky.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Arnold and Delbert Kuhljuergen.
