S. Maurice Davis, 93, of Stockport died at 9:25 p.m. Monday at Parkview Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stockport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Renken officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Stockport United Methodist Church or Stockport First Responders.

Mr. Davis was born April 9, 1911, in Westphalia, Kan., the son of Jacob Wells and Edna Alice Isenberger Davis. He married Mary Elizabeth Collais July 15, 1934, in Stockport. She died June 23, 2003.

Mr. Davis graduated from Canon City High School in Canon City, Colo., in 1930.

From 1934-36, he worked for Grand Union Tea Company in Fort Madison. He then farmed from 1936-1964 in the Stockport area. He worked in the carpentry trade from 1952-1964. He bought the Hawkeye Lumber Company in Stockport, changing the name to Davis Lumber Company. In 1972, he sold the lumber yard to Fred Champius, and it's now known as Stockport Lumber Company.

After 1972, Mr. and Mrs. Davis traveled in their motorhome for 20 years. They visited all 50 states, Mexico and Canada. They belonged to the Travco Motorcade.

Mr. Davis had been a scout master for Stockport Troop 100. He was on the Union Township School Board and was a Union Township trustee for several years.

He was a member of Stockport Lions Club and had served as president in 1972.

Survivors include one son, Stanley Davis and wife Verda of Fairfield; one daughter, Marilyn Strothman and husband Fred of New London; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Wells Davis and Leon Davis, who died in infancy; five sisters, Ethel Davis Dudgeon Hix, Velva Davis Brakeville, Mary Davis, Helen Davis and Lois Alice Davis Champion; and one grandson.
