Isabell Rich, 80, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends after the Rosary.

A memorial in her memory has been established.

Mrs. Rich was born July 22, 1923, in East Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Leonard and Elsie Ledger Kessel. She married Darrell Pete Rich Nov. 23, 1944, in East Pleasant Plain. He died Sept. 13, 1984.

She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Mrs. Rich was employed as a production worker at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and retired in 1988 from Metromail in Mount Pleasant. She had been chairwoman of the Low Vision Support Group.

Survivors include six children, Leland J. Rich and wife Barbara of Burlington, Linda Wallace and husband Louis of Burlington, Larry J. Rich and wife Stephenie of New London, Patricia Hendricks and husband Richard of Salem, Rebecca Dobson and husband Dean of New London and Karen Adkins and husband Mike of Packwood; five brothers, Harold R. Kessel of Kalona, Eugene L. Kessel of Sigourney, Howard E. Kessel of Kirksville, Mo., Carroll R. Kessell of Davenport and Dwight Kessel of Washington; two sisters, Beatrice Reynolds of Des Moines and Marian Wonderlich of Centerville; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one grandson.
