Eunice Grace ATWOOD

Eunice Grace ATWOOD, age 93, of 1608 Packwood Road, Fairfield, died Tuesday morning, June 24, 2014, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

She was born June 22, 1921, at Altoona, Pennsylvania, the daughter of I.L. and Grace DILL TREESE.

The family moved to Iowa while she was young and she grew up in the Midwest.

She graduated from La Porte City, Iowa, high school. She attended Iowa State Teachers College, Kletzing College in Oskaloosa and received her B.A. degree from Parsons College in 1966.

Eunice married Donald K. ATWOOD on October 10, 1948, in Packwood. They lived south of Packwood and farmed their entire married life.

She taught school in Packwood and Fairfield for a total of 27 years.

She was a member of the Prairie View United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association and Farm Bureau Women, T.T.T. She served on the district committee of Methodist Women, was a former 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher and church youth leader, and a member of the Jefferson County Republican Women, plus a member of the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Deceased family members include her son, Norman ATWOOD; her parents; two brothers, Allen TREESE and Paul TREESE; and two sisters, Edna VAN DAHL and Lois TREESE.

Surviving are her husband Donald; two daughters, Gayle (Dale) OLSON of Webster City, Iowa, and Zoe Ann ( Bill) MORITZ (sic) of Bancroft, Michigan; three grandchildren, Aaron (Ashley) OLSON, Jeremy (Angie) ATWOOD and Amy (Joe) DOOLITTLE; and three great-grandchildren, Brock and Kyler ATWOOD and Chloe DOOLITTLE.

A funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Prairie View United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Packwood Cemetery at Packwood.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Prairie View United Methodist Church or to Jefferson County 4-H Foundation.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
