Marjorie Elizabeth SCHANFELDT

Marjorie Elizabeth SCHANFELDT, 94, of Parkview Care Center, died Friday, June 6, 2014.

A funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with Brother Scott Perry officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Suburban Heights Baptist Church or Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is handling arrangements.

Mrs. SCHANFELDT was born March 6, 1920, in Davis County, Iowa, the daughter of Ivan Keith and Stella HAMMOND ZELLERS. She married Raymond A. CHRISTY. She married Walter SCHANFELDT Jr. in 1981. He died in 2013.

She graduated from Ottumwa High School.

She worked for John Morrell and Company prior to marrying her first husband and starting a family.

She was a secretary at Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa for six years, and retired after five years as a homemaker health aid.

She was a member of Suburban Heights Baptist Church.

She enjoyed her iris gardens, embroidering, baking and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include two daughters, Ramona CHRISTY PETERSON and spouse David of Vero Beach, Florida and Tammi CHRISTY CRAFTON of Ottumwa; one stepson, Mark SCHANFELDT and spouse Judy of Freeport, Illinois; two sisters, Donna Jean WOLF of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Marsha HENINGER of Hedrick; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Walter, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, and her first husband.
