James C. "Alabam" JOHNSTON, 73, of 1506 Indian Creek Circle died Tuesday, Aug 8, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. John H. Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Born Jan. 20, 1927 in Elmore County, Ala., he was the son of James C. and Sadie ALLEN JOHNSTON. He married Beverly J. BAGBY in Fairfield on May 24, 1952. He lived most of his life in the Fairfield community, having previously lived in Milford, Kan. He was a mechanic for Courtney's Garage for more than 30 years. In Milford, he was a park assistant at Milford State Park.
Mr. JOHNSTON was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffrey Jay of Derry, N.H.; a brother, James Rudolph of Wetumpka, Ala.; a sister, Jessie May TEMPLE of Montgomery, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
