J. PRICKETT rites Saturday

Juanita PRICKETT, 70, 507 W. Washington, died of cancer at 11:55 a.m. Saturday in the hospital at Macomb, Ill. She had been admitted to the hospital Dec. 28 following tests and underwent exploratory surgery Thursday.

A memorial service will be held Saturday in Building 153 on the MIU campus. The body was cremated. Memorials have been established to MIU and the World Peace Fund.

Mrs. PRICKETT was born July 15, 1917 in Poteau, Okla., the daughter of Olin and Virginia MINTON KING. She received bachelor's and master's degrees from Southern Illinois University and in 1976 received a doctorate in speech and hearing science from University of Illinois. She taught for 37 years in Illinois, first in elementary schools and later at the college level.

She was an associate professor in the speech pathology department at Western Illinois University from 1968 to 1982, when she retired and moved to Fairfield. She was recently certified in educational kinesiology. She married Ralph PRICKETT Aug. 2, 1941.

Surviving are her husband of LaHarpe, Ill.; a daughter, Kay MICHENER of Fairfield; a son, Charles PRICKETT of Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Alberta HOUSE of Harrisburg, Ill.; a brother, Encil RAINS of Tucson, Ariz., and her mother Virginia KING of Galatia, Ill.
