Cecil DOWNEY rites Saturday

B. C. "Cecil" DOWNEY, 73, 910 S. Fifth St., died at 9:54 p.m. Wednesday at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church and the Jefferson County Hospital Long-term Care Unit. Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

DOWNEY was born July 2, 1914 in Troy, the son of Benjamin F. and Lucina ROBBINS DOWNEY. He married Wilda HOFFMAN May 24, 1934 in Kirksville, Mo. He had lived in the Fairfield community for 33 years and before that in Pulaski. He was employed in the service department of Iowa Electric Light and Power Company for 28 years before retiring. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clinton Masonic Lodge 15 at Fairfield, Davenport Consistory, Kaaba Shrine Temple at Davenport, a past master of Eulisus Masonic Lodge 358 at Pulaski and a past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 1192.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Carolyn Mae BAUGHMAN of Cortez, Colo., Betty KLINE of Pulaski; a son, Charles of Wayzata, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine LaROSE of Hayward, Calif., and a brother, Roy C. DOWNEY of Cork, Ireland. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
