Andrew J. MANLEY, 81, 909 E. Jefferson, died at 3 a.m. today, Feb. 18 at Keokuk Convalescent Center in Keokuk.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. George Koch officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. A memorial has been established to the Eagles Lodge for the Little League Team.
MANLEY was born Feb. 7, 1907 in Gladwin, the son of John and Rosia BISHOP MANLEY. He married Bessie FLEAGLE Feb. 21, 1942 in Memphis, Mo. She died Feb. 22, 1975. He lived most of his life in Fairfield, where he was a foundry employee at Dexter Company. He was a U.S. Air Force paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division in World War II. He attended Free Methodist Church and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1927, VFW, and American Legion.
Surviving are two sons, Jack R. of Fairfield, Vernon A. of Birmingham; a daughter, Andrea F. WILLIAMS of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd of Des Moines, Manford "Buck" of Washington; four sisters, Jane BRUDERS of Washington, Virginia SLUTTS of Eldon, Aledia WILLIAMS of Des Moines and Darlene HARPER of Davenport. A daughter, a grandson, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
