David Dean SWIFT, 72, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
A graveside memorial service is at 10 a.m. Monday at Bayles Cemetery, southeast of Hillsboro. The body has been cremated.
Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mount Pleasant is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Mr. SWIFT was born July 20, 1941, in rural Hillsboro, the son of Virgil Henry and Ruby Elaine MOSS SWIFT.
He graduated from Hillsboro High School. He attnded DeVry Technical College in Chicago.
He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War (sic - Vietnam Conflict).
He worked in a variety of occupations.
He was a computer enthusiast and skilled in working with all kinds of electronics.
He loved spending time at the family farm near Hillsboro.
Survivors include one daughter, Jessie DUNCAN of Neola; one granddaughter; and four brothers, Roger SWIFT of Cary, Illinois, Dennis SWIFT, Virgil SWIFT Jr. and Terry SWIFT, all of Salem.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert SWIFT.
