DIED ON 'Q' TRAIN SUNDAY

James GILCHRIST, one of the best known of the older residents of Fairfield, died very suddenly about three o'clock Sunday morning whole on a C. B. & Q. train enroute to Fairfield.

Mr. GILCHRIST left here about two weeks ago for Floirda and was on his return trip, and only about five miles out of Chicago, when he suddenly expired. The body was removed from the train at Aurora, where an inquest was held.

The conductor stated that Mr. GILCHRIST seemed very nervouls when purchasing his ticket in Chicago, but was able to reach his train and took a seat. Soon after Dr. Story of Chariton who was sitting back of Mr. GILCHRIST, noticed his unnatural actions and went to him. As the conductor arrived Dr. Story announced that death had occurred.

Mr. GILCHRIST was eighty-three years of age and was very feeble, being unable to walk more than three or four blocks without exhaustion, from which death was probably due.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at two o'clock p.m., from the home of C. B. McPEEK, a relative.

FAIRFIELD MAN DIES WHILE ON TRAIN

Fairfield, Feb. 8.–Fairfield people were greatly shocked Sunday morning when a message reached this city that J.W. GILCHRIST, one of the oldest residents of Fairfield had died suddenly on a Burlington train between Chicago and Aurora, Ill. Mr. GILCHRIST has been in Florida looking after some business affairs and was enroute home. He had been in ill health for several months but was thought by friends to be better than usual. He was about 75 years of age.

The remains arrived in Fairfield Sunday evening although no arrangements have yet been made for the funeral. Two nieces, Mrs. N.S. KETCHUM of Marshalltown, and Miss Charlotte McCASHIN of Salinda, Kan., are the only near relatives to survive. Mr. GILCHRIST was formerly a photographer here and was the owner of several buildings in Fairfield, beside considerable other property. He had made his home at the Court hotel in Fairfield for some time.

JAMES GILCHRIST DIED ON TRAIN SABBATH MORNING

Old Resident of Fairfield Passed Away On Train Near Chicago.

James GILCHRIST, one of the older citizens passed away on a Burlington train early Sabbath morning. His death occurred shortly after leaving Chicago for his home here. Death was probably the result of exhaustion as he was very feeble.

The funeral services were held from the C. B. McPEEK home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Mr. GILCHRIST boarded the train at Chicago and shortly after leaving that city Dr. Story of Chariton who was occupying a seat back of him noticed that something was wrong. He went to him at once but by the time the conductor reached the spot Mr. GILCHRIST was dead.

The body was taken off the train at Aurora and attended to and relatives were notified. Mr. GILCHRIST had gone to Florida a couple of weeks before and had not notified relatives here of his return.
