Donna R. Spees, 72, of Rural Selma died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Connie Markle and the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma.

Visitation opened at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-8 p.m. today.

Memorials to Iowaville Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 12179 118th Road, Selma 52588.

Mrs. Spees was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Douds, the daughter of Lloyd and Gleda Dooley Davis. She married Richard Spees May 5, 1951, in Batavia.

She graduated from Selma High School and lived her life in the Selma community. She was a homemaker and substitute rural mail carrier.

Mrs. Spees was a member of Selma United Methodist Church.

She was a former member of Selma Saddle Club, enjoyed camping, horseback riding and rode many times in the Douds Field Day and Fort Madison Rodeo parades.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Vickie Cope and husband Bill of Fremont and Joy Perkins of Selma; one son, Kim Spees and wife Susan of Selma; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Hartwig of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
